The award-winning work of internationally renowned
illustrator and cartoonist Gerald Scarfe has featured in
newspapers, magazines and in the sphere of the performing
arts for over forty years. His collaboration with rock
legend Roger Waters and Pink Floyd produced the most
enduring musical multi-media concept in rock history,
culminating in the nineteen-million-selling double album The
Wall, plus the feature film directed by Sir Alan Parker in
1982.
Originally commissioned by Pink Floyd to produce a series of
animated sequences for the bands Wish You Were Here tour,
Scarfe went on to design the album artwork, tour animation
sequences and models for the historic album. His ideas were
also seminal to The Wall feature film, in which he
contributed a fifteen-minute animated sequence, plus various
other visual elements. His unforgettable imagery, including
the characters of Pink and Teacher, endure to this day as an
intrinsic part of Pink Floyds visual identity.
Scarfe on the Wall is a celebration of this intense creative
period. It consists of an authorised box set of five
individually-signed prints of Gerald Scarfes images for The
Wall, plus three previously unseen artworks by the artist.
All archive images in the box set have been individually
selected by Gerald Scarfe and Roger Waters. The entire
collection consists of exhibition-quality prints, each
signed by the artist.
The collection also contains a unique, illustrated thirty-
six page companion volume featuring early illustrations and
working drawings from The Wall, plus an exclusive interview
with Gerald Scarfe. Each book is individually signed by Pink
Floyd founder member Roger Waters a rare commercial
participation from him on a project of this kind.
