Peter Walker is a sculptor of sensitivity and precision.
He combines a talent for creating unique and powerful artworks with a knowledge and dedication to re-establish the traditions of his art form, an undertaking that is bringing him much acclaim. Peter initially trained in figurative sculpture under the tutorship of anatomist Elenor Crook RA and Sculptors Mr. Andrew Edwards (Public Sculptor) and Mr. Neil Wood M.A.
The outcome of this study has enabled Peter to not only to produce sculptural works for commission or for private and public commercial means, but also with the abilities to mould, cast and patina finished work.
Thus giving the artist a broad knowledge and insight of his subject. Along side his professional practice, Peter continues to strengthen his artistic development primarily through self directed studies in the areas of anatomy, osteology and physiognomy.
There is a comfortable dichotomy that can be viewed in the work that Walker produces. A balanced and yet immeasurable polarization. A desire to look in two directions, along the lines of traditional sculpture and to explore the themes of a personal subtractive outlook.
Movement, structure and the translation of human emotion are visible influences upon his current body of work. The development of a cohesive language, which takes into account consistent themes, underpins that which the artist attempts to convey.
