Description
George Hardie also worked with the Hipgnosis design team headed by Storm Thorgerson responsible for other Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd published prints, notably Presence and Floyds classic The Dark Side Of The Moon. George is Senior Art Lecturer at The University of Brighton in Sussex. George Hardie visits colleges extensively in Europe and will travel to Japan later this year..
George Hardie first approached the groups guitarist, Jimmy Page, with an idea for a design involving the airship icon. Jimmy Page then asked George Hardie to refer directly to a photograph that he had found showing the Hindenburg disaster. The Led Zeppelin 1 print is taken from the original artwork that resulted from that project. The result is a screenprint with added colour treatment applied by George Hardie in consultation with Brad Faine at Coriander Studios. The approach was made specially for this print edition. It is a unique reworking of the original artwork by the artist, not simply a reproduction of the album cover artwork. It is now, appropriately, thirty-three and a third years since the release of this first Led Zeppelin album..
